The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games Book: #1)
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before-and survival (continued) and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. Acclaimed writer Suzanne Collins, author of the New York Times bestselling The Underland Chronicles, delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

11 . Enjoyable Fluff
Posted November 14, 2011 by Audney , North ChicagoI enjoyed this book enough that I finished it in 3 days, I was captivated to find out what happened. Initially it bothered me that not much detail was ever given about any one thing, but once I put it in perspective; that this is supposed to be a teen's book and it's supposed to be a easy read, I realized that it all seemed pretty appropriate.
If you're looking for something fun and enjoyable to read over a holiday weekend, this is it! But be warned, you'll probably want to read the next one once you're done.

13 . Amazing Book!!!
Posted October 13, 2011 by Anonymous , HoustonThis was a wonderful book!! I read it, and so did my little brother. We both love it!! My favorite part is that Suzanne Collins takes rebellion to a whole new level. Out of the three books in the trilogy, this is my favorite!!
Posted October 09, 2011 by shawna , NJIt was a really great book but why is everyone obsessing over it? i dont think it deserves that much praise, i've even heard people say that it has to be one of the greatest books ever. It was a great book and thats about it. This is just what i think, my opinion.
