The world is changing: the government has seized control of every aspect of society, and now, kids are disappearing. For 15-year-old Wisty and her older brother Whit, life turns upside down when they are torn from their parents one night and slammed into a secret prison for no reason they can comprehend. The New Order, as it is known, is clearly trying to suppress Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Being a Normal Teenager. But while trapped in this totalitarian nightmare, Wisty and Whit discover they have incredible powers they'd never dreamed of.

11 . Pretty good.
Posted February 24, 2010 by Amanda , OrlandoThis didn't seem as in-depth as some of Patterson's other novels. It went to fast and didn't really explain all the "magic" very well. Then again, I read it in two hours and didn't bother stopping to reread.
12 . James Patterson...Are you kidding me?
Posted February 15, 2010 by Christi , VirginiaThis was not at all what I expected out of a writer like Patterson. I've read the Maxamillion series and it was far better than this disaster.
13 . Two thumbs down
Posted January 30, 2010 by John Murphy , SammamishSorry readers - this was horrible. I did not like the book: the plot line the story or anything else about this book. I would expect from James Patterson a different story line and this was quite unexpected and very unpleasant. Did I read the whole book? Yes but skipped large sections because it was not worth my time to read this book and it was repetitive in almost every chapter. This book was undeveloped and not worthy of this great writers efforts. I can read this stuff from other authors - if I choose and I do not. Please stop now.
14 . NOT typical Patterson...
Posted January 29, 2010 by Lisa D. , Cape Coral, FLHaving said that, the book on it's own is a good read if you like the supernatural and witch-crafty genre. It is written from the point of view of teenagers-keep that in mind! I was pleasantly suprised and the book held my attention. Being a die-hard Patterson fan it took a few chapters to realize that you have to seperate this book from Cross and all the other "death, murder, suspense, psychologicall thriller, sit on the edge of your seat and turn all the lights on" books that he's written over the years. It's totally different! Can't wait for #2!!
15 . Boring, Unoriginal and Childish
Posted January 27, 2010 by Avid reader , AtlantaJames Patterson wrote this??? Seriously? Let's give our young adults more credit towards sophistication than this. This book might apeal to a 3 year old as far as plot, content and delivery but anyone else will be bored to sleep. No creativitiy, totally predictable. A sequel? No thank you.
16 . Good read but not very original.
Posted January 16, 2010 by Melissa Baptiste , Brooklyn, New YorkI really was drawn in by the title but when I started reading this book, it felt as if I read this story before. It brings a lot of Harry Potter ancedotes to mind. The book is a young adult novel and I was surprised this came from James Patterson. It's good but nothing that will blow your mind.
17 . Good book.
Posted January 14, 2010 by Tfaile , Manassas, VAIt kept me reading through, i was constantly trying to guess what would happen next. I just wish it was a full book rather than being part one of two.
18 . not what I expected from Patterson
Posted January 12, 2010 by acphillips , AlabamaWritten like a child's book. Did not keep my interest. Patterson seems to be trying to jump into the supernatural hype, and it didn't work for him. Not worth reading.
19 . REALLY?
Posted January 11, 2010 by Jim D. , Toledo, OHIs the person who wrote this REALLY the same person who writes Alex Cross novels? Can I get a refund? A childish story written like a children's book with a stupid ending.
20 . James Patterson never writes a dull book!!
Posted January 10, 2010 by Nikole , WalbridgeIf you're a big James Patterson fan, such as I am, you would know that Witches & Wizards was only the beginning of a new series. James writes many series. That was one of the reasons I was excited to read this book. I couldn't put it down! It was great. I never usually read books about this kind of witchcraft subject, but, I am very glad I read this. Can't wait for the next one!!!!
