Todd doesn't have 1/10th his mother's talent

The characters are unfleshed, the histories do not hold true (if you've read the Ann McCaffrey Dragonrider books) and the story lines are all flat. I purchased this one and one other (the latest) by Todd and the above held true for both. I didn't finish either.
Fiona will be one to watch
August 02, 2010
True to Anne McCaffrey''s Pern, this book was very difficult to put down. Fiona may not be Lessa, but you are always guessing what she will do next. With the constant threat on Pern of Thread, this book makes you turn each page wanting to know how the wyerfolk will deal with their latest problems.
The only reason I did not give it a five star, is the ending. I felt it left too many unanswered questions. I have found that this is evidently the first of a trilogy, if I read the info correctly, yet I think there could have been more closure. Just Fiona's personality will leave you wanting more. Not to mention their lastest peril and the strong support characters.
