This was a fun, quick, and historically educational story about quirky English characters recovering from the challenges of WW II.

I feel like I'm the last person on the planet to find out about this book, but nevertheless, I've enjoyed it so much I wanted to encourage others to read it. If you love books and that particular thrill of getting lost in a book, then this is the book for you. Compelling characters, heart-breaking scenes, laugh-out loud moments, they are all here.

This was a book that I didn't want to end. The author's style of writing is humorous and witty even while describing heart breaking situations. The WWII setting of the Guernsey Island was new information for me and brought home many stories I've heard about the conditions. Can't say enough good things - a must read.
