Welcome to the quiet coastal town of Clare Point, Delaware, where the Kahill vampire clan has made its home for centuries. . .and where one vampire's love for a human woman could put their entire world at risk. . .
As a member of his clan's kill team, Liam McCathal helps rid the world of undesirables. It's the perfect job for a vampire of his talents--except that lately, Liam is getting a little too good at it. Which is why he's back home to "cool off," when Mai walks into his antique store and changes everything.
Liam's not in the habit of making friends--least of all with beautiful, exotic human females. But something about Mai ignites a spark he hasn't felt in over a century. When Mai's uncle is killed and her father threatened, Liam takes on a ruthless crime boss and puts every vampire in Clare Point in danger of discovery. But it seems more than one clan in Clare Point has its share of secrets. . .
"A nice formula of suspense, mystery and romance." --Romantic Times on Immortal
"A setting worth returning to." --Publishers Weekly
Forrest's third Clare Point vampires novel (after Eternal and Undying) gets deeper into the world of vampires who are cursed by God to be reborn as teens until their souls are purged of evil. Religious soul-searching is central to the character of Liam, a vampire hit man who slays murderers, pedophiles, and serial killers. When he meets Mai Ricci (annoyingly referred to as an "HF" for "human female"), he becomes involved in protecting her from the men who killed her uncle. Solving the mystery behind Mai's uncle's involvement with the Mafia takes a backseat to the doomed attraction and affection that grow between Mai and Liam. While there are plenty of steamy sex scenes, it's Mai's elderly, pretending-to-be-crazy father who often steals the show, and the friendships and histories among characters in Clare Point make the setting worth returning to.
