1 . Great Everyday Study
Posted July 30, 2011 by Ron , Portland, ORI use this for my daily devotion. It keeps me going with its mix of Old and New testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. Easy to understand. I wish that it had some commentary with it, to provide some background to the subject matter. I guess the companion book is supposed to do that. If you want to go through the Bible and read regularly, I recommend this.
2 . I love having it on the Reader
Posted September 12, 2009 by Grandma Aubbie , Southwest KansasLast year our church went through the New Testament using the NLT resource and we especially enjoyed the fact that it was broken into parts and easy to read. The New Living Translation is a paraphrase, which helps to contextualize the text, and brings a freshness when reading familiar passages.
On this particular resource - One Year through the Bible, each day has an Old Testament, New Testament, Psalm, and Proverbs reading. All of the footnotes are included at the end of each passage. It normally takes me about 10 minutes a day to read it.
BUT, it is even better on the Reader!!! I can take a few minutes wherever I am to keep up with the readings, and I don't have to carry the book with me! It is indexed by month, loads easily, and is a very nice addition to my Sony e-library.
I have never made it all the way through the Bible in a Single Year - but already find myself not only willing to read the day's passages, but more than willing to keep on going! I encourage anyone wanting to join the challenge to consider this on their reader!
