Bertrand Russell was an influential British philosopher and mathematician. The Conquest of Happiness, first published in 1930, was Russell's guide on how to live a happy life. Although it was 'of its time' it was also, certainly, ahead of its time. Russell's views were that true happiness could only be achieved through both personal thought and effort. These ideas made this book a true self help classic before self help even existed.
