The year is 1874, and Sam Clark and his father, Adam, are riding back to Texas, following a sale of longhorn cattle up in Kansas. All Sam wants is to be home, where his mother, Martha Sue, awaits their arrival. However, nothing is easy in hostile Indian Territory. Father and son are bushwhacked--attacked with no warning. Adam Clark is shot, and in order to save his own life, young Sam must flee. As he flees, he realizes there was something familiar about their attackers. Could it be? Was his father murdered by a neighbor, or even worse, a friend?
Bushwhacked follows Sam on his treacherous journey home to Texas. First, he must survive his own injuries and demons on the lonely road to safety. In one night, this young Christian grows from boy to man. His survival is dependent on his faith in God, love for family, and overwhelming devotion to duty. Will Sam find the villains who killed his father and avenge Adam Clark's death? Will he make it home alive? Or will adversity conquer all, shattering the family reunion Sam envisions upon the long road to redemption?
