A short story. John and Margaret Posvar, American Midwest farmers, keep alive the values sent down by their ancestors from the Old World. Their neighbors become hostile when they befriend new, foreign neighbors, then send a portion of their harvest to overseas relief. The Posvars' charity enriches their family's world view, but the local backlash threatens to bankrupt and disinherit them.
