Excerpt from Maverick's Black Cat by Maggie Casper
Good Evening, Kitten.
Tomorrow you should receive another package from me so be sure to check your box before heading home from work. There will be a note for you inside your gift and a list of instructions. Follow them and don't be late, baby.
PS. I warned you not to push.
Coming back into her room after her instructed bath, Catarena felt extremely relaxed and peaceful. The hot bath mixed with the candles had really done the trick. She secretly thought Maverick was trying to loosen her up before he pounced. Knowing him, anything was possible. His instructions were part common sense and part ludicrous. It wasn't as if he had asked her to do anything strange or ridiculous, but to Catarena it seemed as if he were trying to pamper her, by making her pamper herself.
The bath made sense because she had just come home from work and it did help sooth her tired body, but the candle instruction seemed a bit odd. Maverick had instructed her to light no fewer than five candles and place them sporadically around the room, and to play a soft, relaxing CD, preferably light jazz or classical. It had soothed her, but she had also had to put up with Bailey's walk by knocking on the door and giggling, which thankfully would no longer be an issue since she'd just left to go out on a date.
Her damp hair lay loose around her shoulders air-drying as Catarena applied a generous amount of pear-scented lotion on her cool skin. She gently massaged her calves as she spread the lotion into her legs, taking time to enjoy her own body. Catarena had shaven, another instruction from his Lord and Master, and her legs felt smooth and soft to her touch. It had been a long while since she had spent so much time on herself.
A lyrical ringing from her alarm clock set in advance alerted Catarena of the time. She stopped what she was doing to light the candles she had taken into her room, giving her bedroom a soft ambiance to fit the mood she was in.
The silk fabric of her robe trickled down her back as she dropped it to the floor. Her nipples hardened instantly as her damp hair caressingly brushed against them, sending shivers down Catarena's already aroused nude body. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath before sitting down in her chair, mentally preparing herself for the unknown. Let the games begin, she thought to herself as she logged on. Maverick was already there.
BlackCat: It's chilly.
Or it would have been if she hadn't turned up the heat in preparation for this meeting.
Maverick: LOL. Hello to you too, Kitten. I take it you're following the instructions and are wearing my choker and nothing else but a smile.
BlackCat: And six-inch stilettos.
There was a pause, followed quickly by his response.
Maverick: I didn't instruct you wear to stilettos.
BlackCat: It was a joke.
Catarena really wished there was a rolling eyes icon she could blast him with. The man had absolutely no sense of humor and, of course, the one thing he would jump on was that she wasn't following his instructions. Figures.
Maverick: Ahhh, I think it will take me a lifetime to get used to your brand of humor.
Catarena smiled when she saw Maverick had bolded and underline the word "brand".
BlackCat: Well, I have the first three chapters started, so you can thank your lucky stars you won't have to put up with me for a lifetime.
Maverick: You do, do you? Will you let me read it?
BlackCat: Do you want to?
Maverick: Of course, I'm your muse.
Yes, he was, she thought with a smile. Still Catarena wasn't so sure how comfortable she'd be letting him read her story. It was silly, she knew. Here she was sitting naked because he'd commanded her to do so, but she didn't have the balls to let him read what she'd written. Maybe Maverick wasn't the psychopath in this relationship after all.
BlackCat: We need to hurry, before I catch a chill and my minutes are up.
Maverick: I can think of lots of ways to warm you up.
I'm sure you can, Catarena smiled wide at the thought. There were many ways she could imagine him warming her up, but she wanted to know what he imagined instead.
BlackCat: Have you ever given up control sexually to a partner?
Catarena rolled her eyes at his reply. There was a big surprise...not.
BlackCat: Why not?
Maverick: To be honest, no one's ever asked. I guess I don't attract the type.
BlackCat: Would you if someone asked?
Maverick: If I was properly motivated, I guess I would. "Never say never", Kitten. It's my motto.
BlackCat: Really, cause mine is "Fuck me once, fuck you, fuck me twice, fuck me". It might lose something in the translation though.
Maverick: LOL, I'm sure it does. French isn't it?
"Oh, my God!" Catarena said aloud in surprise. She was going to have a heart attack. It appeared as if she were wrong about him not having a sense of humor after all.
BlackCat: Did your really just make a joke?
Maverick: It's been known to happen.
BlackCat: Really? When was the last time?
Maverick: Nineteen ninety-three, I believe. I'd say I'm due for another.
Another one, good Lord, he was on a roll.
BlackCat: Are you British?
Maverick: No, why?
BlackCat: Because you have a dry sense of humor, and you seem kind of stuffy. Let me see your teeth.
Maverick: ROFLMAO. I assure you, my teeth are well-maintained, my blood isn't blue and I don't have a pansy-ass accent.
BlackCat: I think the British accents are sexy.
Maverick: Ha. It's a common myth. Trust me, all British men don't sound like Hugh Grant. Some are rather nasally and annoying.
He was speaking as if he had first-hand knowledge. How cool is that, Catarena thought. The closest she had been to "out of the country" was when she and Bailey had tried to sneak over to Tijuana to go drinking, but their car broke down right outside the border.
BlackCat: Have you been to England?
Maverick: Yes. Have you?
BlackCat: Does Perris, California count?
Maverick: No, and the fact Paris isn't even in England would account for half of the reason the answer is no.
Catarena made a mocking face at the computer screen. Where was the damn sarcastic icon when she needed it?
BlackCat: The answer would be no.
Maverick: Your seven minutes are up, Kitten. Are you ready to play?
The moment she had been waiting for with equal doses of excitement and fear was upon her. Glancing up at the webcam aimed down at her like a disapproving parent, Catarena took her fingers off the keyboard and tapped them nervously on her desk. She knew Maverick wanted to be in control, but what would he do if she countered his command. There's only one way to find out, she thought, and placed her hands back on the keyboard.
BlackCat: As ready as I'll ever be.
Maverick: I want you to get up from the desk and bring the toys over to the computer, if you haven't already done so.
BlackCat: You didn't instruct me to.
She answered cockily, weighing the silver choker hugging her neck with the tip of a finger. If he wanted to try this power-play stuff, then she was willing to play along.
Maverick: So true, but for some reason I don't think you're saying that as meekly as you'd like me to think you were."
Catarena eyes widened in surprised and she let out a little chuckle. He definitely had her figured out.
BlackCat: It's the truth. You didn't.
Maverick: Well, I'm telling you to do it now.
Getting up, Catarena went into her closet and pulled down the shoebox she had stashed in the back and took the lid off. She eyed the toys warily, blushing as her eyes slid across her buddy from the other night--if that night was any reference, she was sure she'd be blushing again.
BlackCat: I'm back.
Maverick: Good, Kitten. I take it you received your camera.
BlackCat: Yes, but you took an awful big risk. There wasn't any guarantee it would work with my computer.
Maverick: It's top of the line, it works for almost all computers. It was a calculated risk, but one I'm sure will pay off."
BlackCat: We'll see.
Maverick: Did you run the program and get it installed correctly.
Catarena took a deep breath and popped her knuckles, trying to relieve all the added built-up pressure. It was time.
Maverick: Time to come out of the dark, Kitten.
