The streets of Stoneham, New Hampsire are lined with bookstores...and paved with murder.
When she moved to Stoneham, city slicker Tricia Miles met nothing but friendly faces. And when she opened her mystery bookstore, she met friendly competition. But when she finds Doris Gleason dead in her own cookbook store, killed by a carving knife, the atmosphere seems more cutthroat than cordial. Someone wanted to get their hands on the rare cookbook that Doris had recently purchased-and the locals think that someone is Tricia. To clear her name, Tricia will have to take a page out of one of her own mysteries-and hunt down someone who isn't killing by the book.
"Move over Cabot Cove. Lorna Barrett's new cozy creation, Murder Is Binding, has it all: wonderful old books, quirky characters, a clever mystery, and a cat named Miss Marple!"

"A mystery bookstore in a sleepy New England town, a cat named Miss Marple, a nasty murder and a determined heroine make Barrett's delightful debut mystery everything a cozy lover could want and more. Bravo!"

1 . A great read for those who love "cozy" mysteries
Posted June 28, 2010 by Cara Dube , Daphne, AlIt is often hard for me to buy the types of mystery books I like. I love to read, but some of the gore in mysteries novels just do not appeal to me. That is why I love cozy mysteries. Ms. Barrett does a great job making the main character, Tricia, believable. The town is so cute and the the writing is entertaining and easy to read. Check this book out and the other two in the series.
2 . Good rainy day read
Posted March 08, 2009 by Mary R. , Virginia Beach, VAThis was my first Lorna Barrett mystery and I liked it even though I was constantly comparing it the the Haunted Bookshop series by Alice Kimberly. While Ms. Barrett is not quite as good as Ms. Kimberly, I think you will find this book an enjoyable cozy mystery. I am planning to read her next installment soon.
