Battlefield Earth : A Saga of the Year 3000
In the year 3000, Earth is an empty wasteland. At mining sites across the globe, vicious alien Psychlos grind out the mineral resources of the planet they utterly destroyed a millennium ago. The scant few remnants of humanity hide in villages and remote areas, an endangered species on the brink of extinction. Apathy and superstition have suppressed all hope, when one man, Jonnie Goodboy Tyler, dares to leave his village in search of a better life. Against all odds, he marshals the last survivors to join him in a desperate attempt to drive alien Psychlos from this world before man is lost forever.
"This has everything: suspense, pathos, politics, war, humor, diplomacy and intergalactic finance."

1 . don't be fooled
Posted January 17, 2012 by klblamble , NebraskaMany things have been said about the 'creator' of Scientology, but to read his works you have to drop all preconcieved notions.. the book is epic, spanning, detailed, and very involving. The movie, visually okay, but barely scratches the begining of this tale... a must read for any one who claims to know anything about classic science fiction.
2 . Great Bathroom Book
Posted June 26, 2011 by Slav , NJIt is a great bathroom book because it has lots of pages in case you run out of toilet paper. Aside from that there is very little positive to say about this book. Well it IS better than the movie. Ok now there is absoluetly nothing positive left to say about the book. It has a worldview of an eight year old child. Humans are the bestest. Aliens are the worstest. Humans are smart, brave and united. Aliens are stupid, coardly and backstab each other. The plot is painfully predictable. Characters are one dimensional at best. And it the narration drones on and on. Save your money and more importantly your time. Read something else.
