On the run . . .
Elena Gilbert's love, the vampire Stefan Salvatore, has been captured and imprisoned by demonic spirits who are wreaking havoc in Fell's Church. While her friends Bonnie and Meredith explore the evil that has taken over their town, Elena goes in search of Stefan.
In order to find him, she entrusts her life to Stefan's brother, Damon Salvatore, the handsome but deadly vampire who wants Elena, body and soul. Along with her childhood friend Matt, they set out for the slums of the Dark Dimension, where Stefan is being held captive. It is rumored to be a world where vampires and demons roam free, but humans must live enslaved to their supernatural masters. . . .
Elena will stop at nothing to free Stefan. Yet with each passing day the tension between Elena and Damon grows, and she is faced with a terrible decision: Which brother does she really want?
Back in Fell's Church, Bonnie and Meredith have made some dire discoveries. They hastily try to follow Elena and warn her--only to be caught up in Elena's most dangerous adventure yet.

Posted March 29, 2011 by Zoe , WVPersonally, I think that this book was the best one in the series yet! I like the way that LJ Smith gave Damon actual DEPTH. This proves that he actually does love Elena and that he has feelings. I don't like the way that the brothers(Stefan and Damon) continue to hate each other. I understand that it's part of their background as brothers. I think that its getting ridiculous that if Elena mentions one brother's name around the other brother, the brother looks murderous. All in all though this one is the best one yet!
2 . Waiting for the Next in the Series!
Posted January 22, 2011 by PC Mosier , Columbia, SCI love all of the Vampire Diaries Series of books. I am a little confused by the way that the brothers died and became vampires. One book had their father shoot them in Virginia and other books claim the brothers stabbed each other in the heart with swords in Italy. Other than that contradiction, I love the pace of the book, the character development, and the story locations. Elena starts out as a typical bratty teenager and matures into a caring and strong woman. I love her friends, Meridith, Bonnie, and Matt. I also love how Damon's conflicted soul is discovered and how he gradually changes in the story. I want to find out what happens next! Does Damon stay human? Do they get rid of those pesky creatures reaking havoc on their town and in their lives? How do they fight them? etc., etc. Please hurry with the next books!
