Jennifer Marsh thinks getting some real investigative experience will be good for her writing -- and helping private eye Johnny Zeeman track down the birth parents of adopted teenager Diane Robbins seems like a safe place to start. But when a late-night rendezvous explodes into murder, Jennifer has second thoughts ... too late. For her presence at the crime scene makes the news -- and puts her high on a killer's hit list. Her only escape is to plow headfirst into the deadly mystery of Diane Robbins' true identity ... and to determine why someone will kill to keep it buried.
Aspiring mystery writer Jennifer Marsh gets more than she bargains foras well as plenty of material for her latest novelwhen she accompanies private detective Johnny Zeeman on a case. Jennifer finds herself in the middle of a shootout at a fertility clinic where a nurse is killed before she can give Johnny information about his client, Diane Robbins, an adopted teenager searching for her birth parents. Jennifer takes on the task of solving the murder. Enlisting the help of her boyfriend, reporter Sam Culpepper, and friends from her writers' support group, Jennifer hides Diane from the killers, who are trying to thwart the teen in her quest, and sets out to infiltrate the clinic, which she suspects of arranging illegal adoptions, among other dubious practices. In her latest Jennifer Marsh mystery, Fitzwater (Dying to Get Published) obviously has fun with her characters, but fails to render them believable or interesting. The same can be said for the mystery of Diane's identity, which takes Jennifer much longer than the reader to solve. (Oct.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved
