1 . Keeps you reading
Posted June 24, 2011 by Linda , ButlerI enjoyed how the writer drew a picture of the wilderness so that it felt as if you could actually see it. Many of the characters were likeable.
I liked Nick's brooding, tough yet sensitive character. Him wanting to start over in a new place then meeting a new love interest I understood. His wanting more than Kathy could or would give was understandable. So he starts a new life and of course Kathy has to show up as she is very self absorbed and I really didn't like her at all. The whole her staying at his place while he has a relationship with Angie yet they (Nick and Kathy) are still drawn to each other got annoying. So he ends up loving two women one who wants a family and doesn't have issues with being a mother and the other wanting things on her terms only, leaving him to constantly wait around for her.
It isn't until Kathy is put into a situation where she could die and actually witnesses Nick's new love that oh hey I do want those same things and finally grows up.
It didn't take Nick long after finding out his dead girlfriend was carrying his child to go back to Kathy. Seriously? That whole ending I didn't really get.
That being said, it's the first time I read this author but I will read again because for the most part I did enjoy the book.
