Excerpt from Summer Angels by Jo Barrett
Knowing he tempted an onslaught of gossip, Frank cradled her against his chest, her heavenly curves pressing against him. This was his one and only chance to hold her. One he planned on savoring for as long as the fates allowed. Why not add one more memory, a more pleasant memory to the ones he had of her.
He looked at her lying peacefully in his arms and gently patted her cheek. Leaning in closer, he studied the tiny freckles speckling the bridge of her nose, the reddish golden lashes lying softly against her cheeks, the soft curve of her oh-so-sweet lips. She was like a honeysuckle scented breeze on a summer morning right after a rain. She was an angel, a summer angel.
Stroking the edge of her face, he whispered her name, "Suzanne." God, how he'd wanted her when they were kids and still did.
