Wedding bells ring
Detective Alex Cross and Bree's wedding plans are put on hold when Alex is called to the scene of the perfectly executed assassination of two of Washington D.C.'s most corrupt: a dirty congressmen and an underhanded lobbyist. Next, the elusive gunman begins picking off other crooked politicians, sparking a blaze of theories--is the marksman a hero or a vigilante?
A murderer returns
The case explodes, and the FBI assigns agent Max Siegel to the investigation. As Alex and Siegel battle over jurisdiction, the murders continue. It becomes clear that they are the work of a professional who has detailed knowledge of his victims' movements--information that only a Washington insider could possess.
Caught in a lethal cross fire
As Alex contends with the sniper, Siegel, and the wedding, he receives a call from his deadliest adversary, Kyle Craig. The Mastermind is in D.C. and will not relent until he has eliminated Cross and his family for good. With a supercharged blend of action, deception, and suspense, Cross Fire is James Patterson's most visceral and exciting Alex Cross novel ever.

1 . Fast-pace page turner....buckle up.
Posted January 12, 2011 by Sheila , Mays Landing NJI love Patterson when he writes solo and the Alex Cross series are the best! This book did not disappoint. Fast pace as usual, an old foe resurfaces and toys mercilessly with Cross. When I expected predictability.. I was pleasantly surprised with a twist. Another good Patterson read.. I highly recommend. it.
2 . Loved It!!!
Posted December 28, 2010 by Kim , ArdenThe Alex Cross Series are the only books I've read by James Patterson. Full of suspense, drama and a quick read. Book was a page turner. I could not put the book down. I like that the stories take place in areas that are familar. I would have perfered a better ending. How could Alex have not picked up that Segal was Kyle Craig, his worst enemy? Anyway... I loved it and will continue to read The Alex Cross Series.
3 . Not one of Pattersons' best.
Posted December 27, 2010 by James Patterson fan , Fairfax, IowaI was disappointed. Some of the plot just wasn't believable. Kyle Craig can travel the world? Where does he get his money? I hope Patterson isn't on the downhill slide!
4 . Nice Flashback to Earlier Cross Books
Posted December 22, 2010 by Beachbumbill , Manhattan BeachIn early books - Cross was fairly realistic & books were "easy read". Now - after ??# of Cross books - he is globe-trotting super-human / caped crusader......constantly fighting resurrected nasty villans. Yet - still super "easy read". Not to be analyzed / nothing heavy / no hidden message. Just action packed adventure.....with the predicatble "ending". Very commercial & just fun - I enjoyed it.
