Excerpt from Sins of the Father by Jaid Black
Candy stared at him blankly, too stunned to react. JD's grand plan went beyond anything she could have ever fathomed. It went beyond it, circumnavigated it and then crash-landed into the realm of surreality. "Are you insane?" she whispered. "You can't possibly want to marry me. Why would you sentence us both to a lifetime of--"
"Question and answer period is over," he announced arrogantly. One dark eyebrow shot up. "You have two choices, my dear. Come under my ownership and I allow your family to live in peace. Or reject the chance I am offering you to save their livelihoods and lose everything in the process. The choice is yours." His gaze flicked down to her breasts, then back up to her face. "Make it and make it quickly."
She blinked, barely able to form a coherent thought let alone make a life-altering decision. "Why do you call it ownership? Marriage isn't exactly own--"
"Mine will be."
Mine. Not ours. The possessive word hadn't been lost on her.
JD's calculating eyes flicked down once more, grazing over her body. "You will fuck me as often as I want and however I want it. You will cater to my every whim and fulfill my every perverted fantasy." Her body responded to his words, becoming aroused against her volition. "You will bear as many of my children as I say. You will behave as I say. You will never touch nor look at another man in a sexual way." His gaze shot up to penetrate hers. "I will own you," he muttered, "completely."
She swallowed roughly, her eyes wide.
"Give me your decision, Miss Morgan." His jaw was firm, his eyes harsh. "The clock--and my patience--is ticking."

Dazed was the only word that came to mind to describe how she was currently feeling. An hour after she accepted the ultimatum she'd been given, her lawyer had arrived in JD's office at Candy's behest. Robert, her family's attorney, had flown into a rage when reading the terms of the prenuptial agreement, arguing that it would never hold up in court. JD's lawyer had argued to the contrary, pointing out that a prenuptial agreement could contain any clause so long as both parties agreed to it in writing.
In the end, JD had firmly insisted that not a word of the document would be altered or the deal was off. Robert took her aside and privately informed her that his hands were tied and the decision was hers. Against her better judgment, Candy had signed the wretched thing, not knowing what else to do.
Not even five minutes after she'd caved in, JD had steered her into an adjoining room where a judge was waiting to make it all official. A bit too planned out to her way of thinking. So methodical, in fact, that she found herself wondering just how long JD Mahoney had plotted against her. She had always known him to be calculating, but this required a patience that bordered on inhuman.
Everything was happening so fast--too fast. Her opponent wasn't giving her time to think, which, she begrudgingly admitted, was probably a smart tactical move on his part.
"Do you, Candace Marie Morgan, take this man..."
Good lord, she thought, her lips working up and down in an effort to answer the question, this was insane--simply insane. As a little girl, she had often daydreamed about standing next to JD Mahoney and doing this very thing. But under the current circumstances?
This wedding ceremony felt more like a nightmare than the realization of an adolescent fantasy.
