The brothers are back--the latest installment in J. R. Ward's sizzling #1New York Times bestselling series.
J. R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood novels have introduced readers to a "different, creative, dark, violent, and flat-out amazing" (All About Romance)world. Now, as the vampire warriors defend their race against their slayers, one male's loyalty to the Brotherhood will be tested--and his dangerous mixed blood revealed...
Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood--even though his sister is married to a member, for he harbors a deadly secret that could make him a huge liability in their war against the lessers. As plots within and outside of the Brotherhood threaten to reveal the truth about Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in his darkening world, Ehlena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him--and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction.
Ward powers into hardcover with the tangled seventh title in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, picking up four months after the end of 2008's Lover Enshrined. Rehvenge, a "symphath" vampire who gets energy from manipulating others' emotions, is recruited by a group who want to displace vampire king Wrath, a gruff, determined vigilante. Rehvenge is also falling hard for vampire nurse Ehlena, who disdains his affections and focuses on caring for her ailing father. Ward easily juggles numerous personal and political plot lines, keeping the tension revved high while moving forward with subplots that have lingered for several books and will please longtime fans seeking resolution. New readers may be a little lost despite a helpful glossary, but the fast pace and cliffhanger ending will have fans wishing they could start the next book right away. (May)

1 . Story is great, writing is getting old...
Posted August 21, 2012 by Zoey , London, ONLover Avenged is pretty good. It was close to everything I want from J.R. Ward, and is MUCH better than Book 6.
That being said, I am getting incredibly sick of her writing style. For some reason every male vampire talks like a 13 year old boy who got slang off of the internet (never mind most of them are hundreds of years old... seriously? Where are the language holdovers from the decades and centuries they've lived? Even in their thoughts?) and the texts are equally as ridiculous. At one point Quinn texts "W'll b thur". Really? Gah.
Rehv grew on me, and that was impressive, as he didn't seem very interesting in the previous books. So did Xhex. And it was GREAT to read from Wrath's perspective again - I'd forgotten how much I love Beth! Even though you don't get a ton of their story (and almost none of hers), it's like seeing an old friend. If you`ve gotten this far in the series, don`t stop now - this book is exactly what you want! The romance is believable, the sex is hot (and different this time, too, which is good) and the extraneous characters get a lot of face-time. However, I hope she started listening to the feedback at some point, I am too hooked to stop reading the books just because of the awful slang, but I would really like it to stop.
Although, V`s "wizard" using "mate" every sentence because he was "British" was a close one.
No one in life has ever said 'za instead of pizza.
2 . My Favorite in the Series of Amazing Books..
Posted August 07, 2011 by RaeNic , LAEvery novel in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series is absolutely amazing and I love them all. This particular one holds a special place in my heart though. I don't know maybe it's because I have a soft spot for the bad, corrupt, and seemingly uncaring types who are just misunderstood (reminds me of Zadist, another favorite). Rehv is definitely that kind of vamp/sympath. His relationship with Ehlena is everything I hoped for him. I love finally knowing what his story is when in the other novels he was a background character who would occasionally sneak out from behind the shadows. He's bad ***!! This novel is great and if you like the others in the Black Dagger Brotherhood you'll definitely enjoy this one.

5 . A definite plus to the series.
Posted May 09, 2009 by ET , GarlandRehvenge's story is one of the best in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. You get a full meaty plot line and story and you feel well satisfied after reading this one. The only situation I questioned was that Elhena never fed from any male nor did the author ever address this dilema in the entire story. I think this should have been mentioned when Rehvenge fed from her though she never fed from him. Very puzzling. All in all this book is well worth reading.
6 . Excellent Read
Posted May 09, 2009 by Loganvan , Stroudsburg, PAAnother great addition to the series. If you are considering reading this series believe me when I say it only gets better over the course of all the books! This latest release leaves me wanting the next book in the series to come quick!
