The Broken is a place where people shop at Wal-Mart and magic is nothing more than a fairy tale. The Weird is a realm where blueblood aristocrats rule and the strength of your magic can change your destiny. Rose Drayton lives on the Edge, the place between both worlds. A perilous existence indeed, made even more so by a flood of magic-hungry creatures bent on absolute destruction.

2 . Great read!
Posted October 13, 2009 by Tasha L. , Calgary, Ab.I just finished reading On the Edge and I have to say I loved it! It was very hard to put down. Charming, romantic, with very engaging characters. I am a big Ilona Andrews fan and have all her books. Can't wait for the next one. My only problem with it was the preview for the next Magic book at the end, I got all hooked again and now I have to wait until next year to read the rest. ugh.
3 . Awesome!
Posted October 08, 2009 by Cheese , AlpharettaIlona Andrews is already well-known for creating a wonderful world in which Kate Daniels is the leading lady...
... and now the married couple strikes again with this wonderful tale. There is more romance, but there is also a lot more going on in this story!. Actually it's a little hard to define, it's so unique.
Rose Draytong lives on the edge. Now that might sound as if she was leading a very dangerous life - and in fact she is. She takes care of her little brothers and the environment in which they live has its very own dangers. And monsters.
The Edge is a strip of land that lies between the world we know (called the Broken) and the Weird, where magic rules. The Edge is the in between, a place where magic exists and a few people live there, like Rose and her little brothers. Rose displayed a very rare talent a few years ago and now she has people with not very honorable intentions hot on her heels.
Because of that the young woman had to learn early in her life not to lean on anybody. She tries to make enough money with a job in the Broken to feed herself and her brothers, who are considerably younger than her.
One day, a noble from the Weird arrives, a sword-wielding man called Declan. Rose dislikes him on sight and is convinced that he is arrogant and overbearing, but still his presence has its advantages when monsters appear and Teddy Bears have tea parties. Romance sneaks it's way into Rose's life.... Because On The Edge, it seems, anything can happen.
The plot is thrilling, the romance makes you feel all warm and tingly and Rose's brothers are cute boys with impressive talents you simply WANT to spend your time with.
Another great novel! And a sequel featuring one of the 'side' characters in this book is planned, too.
