A short, practical guide to meditation based on the Buddhist practice known as Shamata or Shinay. The words mean "Calm Abiding" in Sanskrit and Tibetan. The purpose is in resting the mind, and one doesn't have to be or become a Buddhist to rescue yourself from the tangle of thoughts and concepts that can cripple our view of the world around us.
