This short piece is a meditation on the last series of protests in Burma. It deals with the attempted uprisings from the point of view of three symbolic protagonists, a humble clerk who works for the regime, a senior Buddhist monk who has found himself embroiled in the politics of the military government and the dying general who is still able to justify his barbaric actions.
