Dead in the Family - A Sookie Stackhouse Novel : Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 10
The #1 New York Times bestselling Sookie Stackhouse series- the basis for HBO(r)'s True Blood-continues!
After enduring torture and the loss of loved ones during the brief but deadly Faery War, Sookie Stackhouse is hurt and she's angry. Just about the only bright spot in her life is the love she thinks she feels for vampire Eric Northman. But he's under scrutiny by the new Vampire King because of their relationship. And as the political implications of the Shifters coming out are beginning to be felt, Sookie's connection to the Shreveport pack draws her into the debate. Worst of all, though the door to Faery has been closed, there are still some Fae on the human side-and one of them is angry at Sookie. Very, very angry...

1 . Pretty good
Posted August 30, 2010 by Donna , BostonI liked the book It did leave me wanting more. I feel like it did leave me with more questions than answers, I thought she might tidy up somethings. Worth the read all the same!
2 . It worth the read to just keep the flow of blood alive
Posted August 23, 2010 by hannah , montanaI am like most of you who are looking at this book a huge Sookie Stackhouse Novel fan, loved all of the books thus far. That is the only reason I will give this book a Three star review. It was completely rushed and repeated (blood bond issuses) to "I feel" elongate the story, then comes to a complete hault. Most of her novels ends with you wanting more and leaves hanging on the seat of your chair but this ending had me standing there with a dumb look on my face. Thinking "really thats it, this is what I have been dieing to read?" I am hoping that it is a snack or filler to hold us over until the next one, because it seemed to me like a drawn out short story. In fact I think it would have been a wonderful short story. I still love the books would still recommend reading, but wasnt intoxicating like any of the others. It was just worth reading to keep the flow of blood pumping to hold us over til the next book. (<3'sEric)
3 . Disappointing to say the least....
Posted July 19, 2010 by Mary Carmen , San DiegoSeeing that I read all of Harris' books last summer with such frenzy, I could not WAIT for the day that this book came out. I was lucky enough to download it the night before it was released and read it for 2 days. I should have just gone to bed.
This book seemed rush, no emotion, no passion, no feeling. It was like her publicist said "hurry and get a book out as soon as possible''....
I kept reading hoping and praying for it to get going. It was a difficult read as it did nothing to capture my attention.
Sorry....with all the other 8 paperbacks I read from Charlaine, this was NOT one I would recommend at all.
4 . Sorry..but no :(
Posted July 07, 2010 by Sarah , Wichita, KSI have loved all of the Sookie Stackhouse books. This one was a huge disappointment! There were no juicy scenes with Sookie and Eric (what's up with that?). It felt like she wrote this book a night before the deadline. The book was all over the place! I had to FORCE myself to read it! It was a waste of money! There should have been more scenes with Eric! Isn't it supposed to have love scenes and romance in this series? There was no romance! It was a huge disappointment. It felt like the author didn't even want to write it. I think if the author doesn't enjoy it anymore then she shouldn't write this series anymore! I re-read all of the other books...this one was terrible!
5 . Boring
Posted June 27, 2010 by Racquel , Ocoee, FLThis book was a very hard read....it was all over the place. This was a Big Disappointment, I hope the next Sookie book is better.
6 . Torn
Posted June 13, 2010 by Cher , Oklahoma CityIt's hard to write a caption for this review because I am a bit torn. I do like the book, but thought it seemed too short and at times extremely uninteresting. I don't know why. It's certainly not the best of the series, but it's also not THAT bad. It seems like Harris was distracted when writing this one. Maybe I am reading it all wrong, but I am really beginning to tire of the way Sookie is written. One day she's a good girl and the next day she's... I don't know what. At least Eric is the love interest still. I don't think I could stomach another flirt-fest with another supernatural creature.
If you can, get it from the library or you might just be mad at spending the cash for it.
7 . Here's hoping the next ones better
Posted May 24, 2010 by Danna , Okinawa JapanI am an avid Sookie reader. I love this series. I was waiting very anxiously for this new addition. After reading it I just sat there for a few minutes asking myself "What did I just read?" There's so much going on in this book but it feels as though it went nowhere. I had to force myself to read some parts in order to just keep from skipping through. I am so disappointed. I feel like I waited so long for something that just didn't make flow well with the rest of the series. Was this written by Charlaine Harries? I can't tell. I loved the few bits of Eric and Sookie time that were there but it just seemed unfulfilling to me as a whole.
8 . This one had no "juice"
Posted May 23, 2010 by RobynC , Bealeton, VAI am a true Sookie fan and have loved all of the books in the series. This one was a big let down. It was "Sookie" light. No flavor, no meat....All of the other books had a pace and a conflict that was lacking here.
I agree with one reviewer who felt like Ms. Harris was just trying to make a deadline.
Please bring back the old Sookie and the old style of writing!
9 . Totally Dissapointed!!!
Posted May 20, 2010 by rojasaddison , addisonI was really looking forward to reading this book. Unfortunately this is not her best work. I was totally dissapoited the style was totally off. I hope the next one make up for this one. and if she keeps writting like this she will loose her readers.
10 . Disappointed...
Posted May 19, 2010 by Colleen McCready , Waterbury,CTBecause I thought Charlaine lost the thread of where it was all going! There was no action, and I thought alot was left unresolved from the last book. Not nearly the quality that I have come to expect. I was very excited when I bought it, but let down when I finished. It was not memorable.
