"Funny, witty, heartfelt, and sexy...a sizzling series!!!!"
She's a self-made city girl...
High-powered career woman Austin Lanier suddenly finds herself saddled with an inherited watermelon farm deep in the countryside. She's determined to sell the farm, until her new, drop-dead sexy neighbor Rye O'Donnell shows up...
He's as intoxicating as can be...
Rancher Rye O'Donnell thinks he's going to get a good deal on his dream property--until he meets the fiery new owner. Rye is knocked sideways when he realizes that not only is Granny Lanier's city-slicker granddaughter a savvy businesswoman, she's also sexy as hell...
Suddenly Rye is a whole lot less interested in real estate and a whole lot more focused on getting Austin to set aside her stiletto heels...
WOW! I totally got sucked in from the start! What a great, fast paced, heart warming read.
I have read other work by Ms Brown but at the moment I think that this is one of my favorites :) Hot man, sexy woman and a watermelon farm in Texas. What else in the world could there be? The descriptions were great, the plot was solid and the characters were memorable and relatable. Very well done and all wrapped up in a neat package for this reviewer. *SNAPS* Ms Brown on yet another job well done :)
Austin Lanier is a high powered executive who is suddenly strapped with her grandmother's watermelon farm. Her intent is to clean out her grandmother's house and prepare to sell the farm. She suddenly becomes responsible for the livelihood of some Mexican workers and their families. This puts a kink in her plans to sell right away. Not only that but a sexy cowboy is just across the street.
Rancher Rye O'Donnell is determined to buy the ranch across the way and thinks he will get a good deal in the process. He doesn't expect his neighbor to be a savvy business woman, as well as, sexy as the dickens. Suddenly he becomes more concerned with getting her to turn in her stilettos for a pair of cowboy boots. Will these two be able to work out some kind of a deal that will benefit them both?
This is an amusing romance that will give you more then one chuckle. For a time, you have to wonder if these two will ever get together. If you are superstitious enough, you may even wonder if the dead grandma is trying to keep them apart. One has to wonder if this couple is even meant to be.
The storyline moves along with Austin's and Rye's family getting in the way. Austin changes along the way and makes you wonder where the high powered woman went. Her snob nose mother gets a rude awakening when Austin shows she has a mind of her own. Rye is a protective brother; but his sister is just as determined to protect him. Will he be able to stand up and be his own man?
This was a great little romance; but sometimes the conversations were a bit ridiculous. I just find it a little hard to believe people would talk like this to each other. If you like cowboys and romance, you should enjoy this book. All in all it is a very good read and it definitely had me laughing.
I wish to thank Sourcebooks for providing me with an ARC to review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions expressed are my own. I was not compensated in any way except for being provided the book the read and review.
I give Love Drunk Cowboy 4 out of 5 stars
Sitting down with this book, I was ready to dive it. I enjoy all of Carolyn Brown's books and work. This book was no exception. We meet Austin who is a city girl who has come to sell her deceased grandmothers land. She has every intention of doing this, even as she discovers all the hidden treasures around the farm. One being a watermelon wine business and one being Rye, a hunk of a man living right across the street, however he always seems to be over at her place. Austin is skeptical if he is really into her, or if this man just wants to buy her land and is sucking up to her so she sells to him. Austin ends up finding just what she is looking for, in a place she never expects.
I think any Carolyn Brown fan will be happy to dive into this book. This is the first book in her new series and I can't wait to read the rest. If you wondering why I rated this a 3, even though I really enjoyed the book, I have to admit I found this book a bit predictable, however still very enjoyable, so I still fully recommend this book to anyone who enjoys western romance or even contemporary romance since this book borders it.
