Time To End Affirmative Action presents evidence that disparate racial outcomes in America are primarily caused by racial differences in intelligence. The book methodically reviews the scientific evidence on the cause of black-white differences in IQ, with a focus on the role of genes. The book is written for a lay audience, who need no previous knowledge of the scientific matters discussed, and explains the topics of neurology, genetics, and evolution in a manner that is straightforward and easy to understand. The author argues that affirmative action should be ended because its premise of equal racial ability is fundamentally flawed, its goal of equal racial outcomes is unachievable, and its continuation undermines the American values of individualism and economic liberty. The evidence discussed includes the following: 1) For 100 years blacks have substantially underperformed whites on IQ tests. We compare the sociologocal explanations that liberal offer for this phenomenon with the scientific evidence demonstrating a genetic cause. 2) Neurologists are quickly honing in on the specific brain structures which lead to individual differences in intelligence. We use this evidence to examine racial differences in brain structure that contribute to average differences in racial IQ. 3) The basic principles of genetics and evolution are reviewed, as is the process by which evolution forges higher IQ among species and races over time. We tell the story of white evolution whereby for tens of thousands of years the ancestors of the modern white population survived in a cognitively challenging European environment that pressured their genes to evolve in the direction of higher average IQ. 4) Most Americans take it as an article of faith that blacks and whites are endowed by nature with equal potential for intelligence. We test this belief by conducting an historical review of the achievements of black cultures through the ages to determine whether they are consistent with that of high IQ white populations. The notion that blacks and whites inherit the same genes for intelligence is simply a theory. This book puts forth an alternative theory, supported by an extensive body of scientific evidence, that rebuts the assertion that American blacks are victims of white racism. Both sides of the debate are discussed, enabling the reader to decide for themselves which explanation they find most compelling and whether they believe affirmative action is a policy that should still be supported.
