The Passion and Exaltation of Jesus : A series of oil paintings and related Bible quotations of Jesus' last few days on earth covering His trial, crucifixion, burial, resurrection and Ascension
""The Passion and Exaltation of Jesus"", presents photographs of paintings by Billy Baumann of the events in the last days of Jesus' life on earth. This series of highly realistic paintings begin with Jesus in the garden of Gethsame, bloody sweat dripping from his forehead as he prays, ""Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless, not my will but span class=SpellEthine be done"". The series continues with His trial before the Sanhedrin, before Pilate, mocking by Herod, the crowd choosing span class=SpellEBarabbas, His scourging, His crucifixion, His burial, the empty tomb, His resurrection, His appearance before Mary and His disciples, and His Ascension. Billy has observed dozens of different artistic styles of the traditional Stations of the Cross commonly hanging on the walls of Episcopal and Roman Catholic Churches. The traditional ""stations"" vary in artistic styles from abstract to semi-realistic and some are not even reflected in the Bible. As an artist, Billy became interested in doing a series of paintings that realistically reflect the last few days of Jesus. Using quotations from the Gospels he selected 18 scenes covering these dramatic events that transformed the entire world.
