Young love that had to end...
He loved his rag doll, pretty Dani Murdock from the wrong side of the tracks. She filled his heart, his life with the kind of love he'd only ever dreamed could be his. But as college loomed, even their love and a rushed marriage couldn't keep them together when malicious lies and harsh words ripped them apart. The worst day of his life was the day Dani ran away, not only leaving him brokenhearted, but taking with her a secret that would take years to be revealed.
Lust destined to be satisfied...
Twelve years later, all-pro quarterback Brand Carendon rediscovers his first love...and their son. But the years--and time apart--have changed them both. For Dani, the golden boy she loved is gone, replaced by a man hardened by life, with no love for any other but the son he never knew he had. For Brand, the only woman he's ever loved, who can fire his blood with just a look, the lightest touch, Dani is the perfect submissive, his perfect mate, if only he dares trust her after she left him years ago without a word.

Excerpt from Out of Bounds by Ann Jacobs
Brand hadn't slept much. It was all he could do to force a pleasant grin for the reporter who accosted him at six a.m. in the hotel parking lot. All the way across the bridge he scanned the rearview mirror. Good. He didn't notice anybody following him.
Fifteen minutes later he pulled up in front of Dani's place. It looked older and more worn in the light of day than it had last night. Hopefully the press would never have reason to go looking into how Dani and Dave had lived since she left him.
Sure, and pigs fly, too. Brand made a mental note to think up a plausible explanation for his former wife and son's having existed on the fringes of poverty while he pulled down millions every year. So far as he was concerned, his profession made him fair game for the carrion of the press. He'd be damned, though, if he intended to let them drag his family through the mud.
"Dave just got up. He's getting dressed," Dani said when she opened the front door. "Come on into the kitchen. I've got coffee made."
Brand followed her to the kitchen. Damn, but she had a great ass. He imagined taking those rounded cheeks in his hands, holding onto them while he fucked her from behind.
"Would you like some coffee?" She lifted a battered percolator off one of the stove's burners, reminding him of their poverty, steeling him to push her for marriage.
He came up close behind her, splayed his fingers across her soft, flat belly. Her backside felt firm yet giving against his groin. Bending his head, turning hers to give him access, he kissed his way from her flushed cheeks to her lush pink mouth.
When she set the coffeepot down, he loosened his hold, turned her to face him. This time he caught her open mouth and forced his tongue inside, teasing them both with the thrusting rhythm that mimicked fucking.
When her arms tightened around his shoulders he cupped her ass cheeks and pressed her against his raging hard-on. Her unguarded response threatened his control, boggled his mind. Finally, while he still could, he broke the kiss.
He still held her, but at arm's length. "I don't just want my son. I want you, Dani." Golden shards lit her dark gaze as he dragged her hand to his groin, closed it around his swollen cock. For a moment she hesitated, but then her fingers tightened around him ever-so gently.
He damn near came from that slight contact. Wanting her as hot as she'd gotten him, he slipped his hand inside her robe and found the soft round globe of her breast. When he rubbed his palm across the pebbled nipple she let out a little whimper.
"You want this, too." It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. He could tell by the way her body reacted when he touched her. He loved the feel of her skin, all hot and tantalizing, smooth as silk.
"It's been so long, too long." She sounded mindless with need. He knew damn well he was about to burst, but it wasn't the time or place to haul her off to bed.
He tried to back off, burying his face in her hair, nuzzling the sensitive spots on her throat. "It's been a long time for me, too, honey."
"You're awfully sure of yourself." She sounded annoyed, but he wasn't about to forget she'd admitted last night that she'd never found a lover to take his place. He guessed he should be grateful for her change in mood, though, for it broke the sexual tension.
"You told me yourself. Remember? Last night you said I'm a hard act to follow." He released her and sat on one of the wooden kitchen chairs. "I'll have that coffee now, unless you're willing to help me relieve this painful condition."
She blushed when he caught her sneaking a glance at his lap. "You can't let Dave see you like that," she blurted out. As if suddenly self-conscious, she adjusted her ratty terry cloth robe, tightening the belt like armor around her waist.
"The way I'm feeling now, I imagine you could take care of the problem in about thirty seconds."
"Well, you could." He laughed out loud when she shot him a disapproving look over the top of the coffeepot.
Dani set the coffee on the table, along with a spoon and a half-gallon carton of milk. "Sugar's in the bowl. Dave's coming. For God's sake, Brand, sit behind the table or something."
He moved the chair so the table covered the lower part of his anatomy.
