The American Standard Version of the Holy Bible is a revision of the English Revised Edition of the King James Bible published in 1881. The general intention of the American revisers was to eliminate obsolete, obscure, or misleading terms and to "bring a plain reader more closely into contact with the exact thought of the sacred writers than any version[then] current in Christendom, and . . . prove itself especially serviceable to students of the Word."

1 . Categorically Accurate

I couldn't decide between a great yarn or a history book, this book has it all. It is a great yarn, containing a great many more yarns within it's many sub books. They are totally unbelievable and mind-blowing. It also has history, well not directly, but it explains why the 200 years of history after it supposedly happened, was full of undue hardship, death and misery.
I would not recommend it for children under 15. As there are many horrific and graphic depictions of human slaughter, to include infanticide, among many other attrocities.
As a responsible adult, I must also recommend adults with a slim grasp on reality not read it either.
2 . DO NOT BUY
Posted April 06, 2010 by Shawn , Washington, DCNo TOC. Using the search feature for book or book and chapter on the PRS600 causes it to freeze. Via computer will pull up the book name IF you know exactly how this version words it (St. Luke vs. Luke; don't even try the letters of Paul). Wish I could return it! Wish Sony would have told me there is no TOC on this POS e-version (not the Bible obviously).
3 . Not very well adapted ebook.
Posted November 18, 2009 by shootndrill , AlaskaOf course, the Holy Bible is a great blessing, and I prefer the American Standard Version translation. Unfortunately, this ebook isn't very well produced. There isn't a functional Table of Contents, so there is no easy way to find a specific scripture except by using the search function in the Reader. That works okay, but an ebook Bible really should have a good TOC and chapter : verse links to zero in on a specific scripture.
Needs some work to be a good ebook Bible. I'm glad it's available, but I would look for a better edition.
