Overview

Ostensibly Jake Adams is in Odessa, Russia, to guard two agribusiness honchos attending a conference. But the former CIA agent is always close to trouble, and soon the bodies start falling. First to die is an authority on biochemical weapons; then the two men Jake has been hired to protect join the corpse list. Meanwhile, Kurdish terrorists are on the move around the world using biological warfare to force their goal of obtaining a homeland. Scott, a former weapons expert and the author of Fatal Network (1999), has the high-tech jargon down pat, giving the story a ring of authenticity as he takes readers around the world for a thrill-packed adventure that skips from Russia to Mexico to Kurdistan. The only part of the story that seems forced is the romance, but fortunately, it tends to get lost in the action anyway. Technothriller fans looking for an alternative to Clancy will find Scott a somewhat smaller-scale but perhaps even more authentic alternative.
