Author Information

Bio of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction

The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction (later Fantasy & Science Fiction and usually referred to as just F&SF) is a digest-size American fantasy and science fiction magazine first published in 1949 by Mystery House and then by Fantasy House. Both were subsidiaries of Lawrence Spivak's Mercury Press, which took over as publisher in 1958. Spilogale, Inc. has published the magazine since 2001. With the April/May 2009 issue, it changed from monthly to bimonthly publication.

Bio of Matthew Hughes

Matthew Hughes is Senior Lecturer in Military and International History at the University of Salford. Dr Hughes's recent publications include Allenby and British Strategy in the Middle East (London: Frank Cass, 1999), Does Peace Lead to War? Peace Settlements and Conflict in the Modern Age (Stroud: Sutton, 2002) and Allenby in Palestine: the Middle East Correspondence of Field Marshal Viscount Allenby, June 1917-October 1919 (London: Army Records Society 2004).

Bio of Terry Bisson

Terry Bisson has had a long, eclectic, and acclaimed career as a writer and publishing entrepreneur. He's scripted radio plays, talk-radio productions, and comic books; written novels and novelizations for both adult and young adult audiences; run a mail-order book service (with Judy Jensen), and published short fiction in many magazines just as prestigious as The New Yorker, thank you very much (check out his website; then you'll get it). His honors include the Hugo, Nebula, Locus, Theodore Sturgeon, and Phoenix (Best Southern SF Writer) Awards. If you want a proper biography befitting the understated humor of his stories, you'll have to read the one on his website. Bisson is originally from Owensboro, Kentucky, attended school at Grinnell College and University of Louisville, and now makes his home in Oakland, CA, though we hear that Owensboro is becoming a hot town for writers.
