Bio of Stephenie Meyer
I was born in Connecticut in 1973, during a brief blip in my family's otherwise western U.S. existence. We were settled in Phoenix by the time I was four, and I think of myself as a native. The unusual spelling of my name was a gift from my father, Stephen (+ ie = me). Though I have had my name spelled wrong on pretty much everything my entire life long, I must admit that it makes it easier to google myself now. I filled the "Jan Brady" spot in my family-the second of three girls. Unlike the Brady's, none of my three brothers are steps, and all of them are younger than all the girls. I went to high school in Scottsdale, Arizona, the kind of place where every fall a few girls would come back to school with new noses and there were Porsches in the student lot (for the record, I have my original nose, and never had a car until after I was in my twenties). I was awarded a National Merit Scholarship, and I used it to pay my way to Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah. I majored in English, but concentrated on literature rather than creative writing, mostly because I didn't consider reading books "work" (as long as I was going to be doing something anyway, I might as well get course credit for it, right?). I met my husband, Pancho (his real name is Christiaan), when I was four, but we were never anywhere close to being childhood sweethearts. In fact, though we saw each other at least weekly through church activities, I can't recall a single instance when we so much as greeted each other with a friendly wave, let alone exchanged actual words. This may have been for the best, because when we did eventually get around to exchanging words, sixteen years after our first meeting, it only took nine months from the first "hello" to the wedding. Of course, we were able to skip over a lot of the getting to know you parts (many of our conversations would go something like this: "This one time, when I was ten, I broke my hand at a party when-" "Yeah, I know what happened. I was there, remember?") We've been married for ten and a half years now, and have three beautiful, brilliant, wonderful boys who often remind me chimpanzees on crack. Gabe is eight, Seth is five, and Eli is three. My favorite authors/biggest influences are (in no particular order) Orson Scott Card, Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, Maeve Binchy, Charlotte Bronte, Daphne DuMaurier, L.M. Montgomery, Louisa May Alcott, Eva Ibbotson, William Goldman, Douglas Adams, Janet Evanovich... the list goes on, but I think I hit the highlights. I can't write without music, and my biggest muse is, ironically enough, the band Muse. My other favorite sources of inspiration are Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Coldplay, The All American Rejects, Travis, The Strokes, Brand New, U2, Kasabian, Jimmy Eat World, and Weezer, to mention a few. My favorite places to hang out on line are: www.fansofrealitytv.com (friendliest people on the internet, and also the best place for The Amazing Race, Survivor, and America's Next Top Model recaps. Not that I watch those shows...) www.ericdsnider.com (my favorite movie reviews) www.muse.mu (home of the incredible band, Muse. Absolution was easily the best alternative album of the year, and possibly the decade. Opinionated? Who, me?) www.ebay.com (no explanation needed, right?) www.imdb.com (where I search for actors to star in Twilight, not than anyone cares what I think.)

Breaking Dawn - Stephenie MeyerPosted August 04, 2008 by Bewitching Sparkle, Mesa, AZ
I am happy I did not have high hopes for this book. I had it in my mind that it would be awful. In most cases, when I put something at the absolute bottom, it far exceeds my expectations and turns out to be one of the best things I have read or seen.
Such was not the case with Breaking Dawn. I wanted to like it -- I really did. I even read it TWICE to make sure I wasn't being overly fussy. This storyline is so far removed from her first novel, Twilight, that I still shake my head and ask, "What happened?!"
What a disappointment. I don't even know where to begin. The first chapter is so badly written it makes me wonder if she had even penned it herself. The ludicrous storyline with the expected ending was the final straw. There were no surprises. The only surprise I felt after finishing it twice was, "How the heck did this get published?"
It felt like Ms. Meyers was forced to put out a fourth and final book. I just wish it could have ended the same, but everything from the first to the last chapter be more believable and engaging. It just seemed so far fetched and underwhelming.
I won't give away any spoilers except for this -- Nessie? Come on!
My advice for anyone wanting to read this? (I never thought I would say this, either.) Go to the fan fiction sites. You will find better endings that are written and storylines that trump Ms Meyer's.
For people who are first timers to the Twilight series, stop at Twilight. Maybe read New Moon and if you're feeling like you want disappointment, read Eclipse. But please avoid Breaking Dawn. -

This book is definitely Stephenie Meyer's best. She did some real magic with these stories. She left me crying, wanting more, missing the characters already. These books have easily changed my life, and this one is the best.

Breaking DawnPosted August 16, 2008 by Taffy Pearls, Phoenix, AZ
I knew long before I even started the first book in this series that it was made of ridiculousness, so I was certainly not surprised with how cracked-out Breaking Dawn was.
However, I personally thought it was much better than the previous books as far as being interesting and enjoyable, if not sensible. I loved it, I really did.
Bella, one of the biggest Sue's I've ever read about is still a Sue, and she still complains with every paragraph of this book, but honestly, who cares about her? If there's any good reason to read this book, it's for Jacob, for Alice (even if she did get a sad few amount of scenes), and for all the other characters besides Bella and middle-age housewife-esque Edward.
And, hey, it really could have been a lot worse. -

Hello, its fiction. It was kinda predictable but it was a really great book regardless. The love story is still perfect and special. I donated all my other twilight series books to my local library. Breaking Dawn will not be joining them. I know I will be reading it over and over again in the future

breaking dawn.Posted September 25, 2008 by paige, Staten Island, NY
This book was exactly how the Twilight Saga needed to end. It was just perfect and didn't leave you hanging. Stephenie did a great job with this one, definitely my favorite, besides Midnight Sun.

Twilight Series by Sttephenie MeyerPosted October 31, 2008 by anarsygrl, Tucson, Arizona
I started the twilight series of book with no preconceived notion except knowing that it popular and it is about vampires. As I proceeded to read each book I found myself enthralled within the confines of the pages. I truly enjoyed each character nuances, subplot and ending of this book. I can not wait to see my imagination and interpretation of this masterpiece come to life in the big screen. Enjoy and get lost in these books!

These were the best books I have ever read!!!! My 11 year old is reading them now and she can't put them down. I only hope she comes out with a second series soon. Even though they were made for young adults they were highly recommended and I have also made several people read them and they cant stop reading them too. I fell in love with Edward from the very beginning and I can't wait for the movie.

Not as great as the first 3, but goodPosted December 25, 2008 by V, Bowie, MD
To me, this book just took things a little too far. I enjoyed the first 3 and wasn't sure what to expect with this one. I was glad to have things wrapped up, but the story line just seemed a little overboard.

Great conclusion to the seriesPosted December 30, 2008 by Kristy, Elk Grove

FOUR books on the BEST SELLERS LIST!!!Posted January 14, 2009 by Bee, Chicago
Is this series of books the Greatest Stories Ever Told? Nah. But, like a great piece of cheesecake or other guilty pleasure, Stephenie's 4 books on Bella, Edward and Jacob were satisfying and filling. I know that many people have compared her books to the Harry Potter series and I don't know why: teen fiction? world of magic? Who knows and Who cares! All I know, is that as a reader who's 56 years young, the LAST series of books that I've raced through and stayed up all night reading were the Harry Potter series. I read every day of my life: classics, popular, technical, etc, so I have a lot of pages to contrast this book against. I was worried that the last book would fail; I was SO wrong! Exciting to the very end and tense throughout, I give Stephenie a large HI FIVE for giving the reading public such a run for the money. Enjoyed them all so much that as soon as I was done reading them, I began book 1 immediately after finishing book 4. Loved them all!!!

Just as good as the first book!Posted January 20, 2009 by Ann, Lake Worth
This is an awesome series! I read all four books in two weeks! If you are looking for a gory vampire story, this is not it! This is a romantic love story! Most of the women in my neighborhood read it, and loved it. There also was a few husbands that did too!

What hast thou wrought???Posted January 20, 2009 by Jen, Chicago
Loved, absolutely LOVED the first three books....but the fourth is just indescribably awful. And not in a so-bad-it's-good way. It's so poorly written and veers in such bizarre, unrealistic directions that I seriously wonder how it got published. Wish I hadn't read any part of Breaking Dawn because it ruined the ride. Big time. And it was clearly a train wreck of lame writing and B-movie horror subplots from early on. Should have stopped after the first few ridiculous chapters, but I forged ahead and gave the story the benefit of the doubt out of sheer loyalty to the first books. Do yourself a favor and skip this last book because I promise you - with every fiber of my being - that whatever ending you create for the Edward/Bella/Jacob/Charlie/Cullens/Forks, WA saga in your head will be far superior to the one that is printed herein. I leave you with one tragic word as proof of this disaster: Renesmee. AKA 'Nessie'. Sigh.

Skip itPosted March 22, 2009 by Unknown, Nova Scotia, Canada
I started reading "Twilight" a few months before "Breaking Dawn" entered book stores. Most of my friends were reading it, and strongly suggested I start reading "Twilight," too. So, I did, and, to my surprise, I enjoyed. Therefore, one week later I found myself back at the book store buying "New Moon." Although I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as "Twilight," I read on. Soon, I was reading "Eclipse," and couldn't wait for "Breaking Dawn" to come out.
The day "Breaking Dawn" came out, I went to the book store and bought it. I rushed home excited to throw myself back into the Twilight Universe. After reading Bella's Point of View, it seemed as though Stephenie Meyer was writing for an older audience. Then, I read through Jacob's Point of View and found it lacking life and excitement. As Meyer never wrote from this Point of View before, we were tossed into a life we didn't know about. Once I was put back into Bella's Point of View, I thought that the "plot" was blunt and lifeless. Also, if you're like me and truly read the chapter titles, the whole book was wasted after reading the title to the last chapter.
After finishing "Breaking Dawn," I noted that Meyer broke the rules she set back in the three other books: vampires can't have babies and once you become a vampire, it takes years to act some-what normal.
If you do decide to read "Breaking Dawn," keep your outlook low, and it should be okay. In addiction, I strongly suggest checking out FanFiction, where there are many different opinions to balance on. -

A Great Ending to a truly Great Series!!Posted March 31, 2009 by Tanyalyn, Clarksville, tn
Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Were all great reads!!! I fell in love with this story, Breaking Dawn was a great ending and one of the best books in the series, it tied all the loose ends up in a truly amazing unexpected way that truly makes this the best series I have ever read!!!
.................If you haven't discovered these books yet you don't know what you are missing, it is a story for all ages young and old alike!!! -
Awsome TwistPosted April 01, 2009 by Ladydee, Kailua, HI
I love the whole saga. I started slow with Twilight because everyone was excited about the movie being released, and everyone's teens and pre-teens were ravenous about the books. I figured it was worth checking out. Once started tho, I couldn't stop and ended up reading all four books in 2 weeks!
I like the fact that everyone is growing up and developing through out the series. Edward and Bella are entering the world of adults with sex, family, friendship and hard decisions. Did the author "break the rules" by allowing a "child" to be born? I don't think so. Vampires, werewolves and humans ... who the heck made up any rules for these creatures? Life is not set for anyone (or anything) and this story kept me on the edge of my seat until the end.
I also happened to like the fact that we got to see some of the other characters points of view, but it did take a bit of getting used to after the single viewpoint in the other books.
I hope we get to see the finished version of "Midnight Sun" (Edward's story) and would love to see Stephanie write Carlisle's story. -
The EndPosted April 08, 2009 by Erin, Trenton, NJ
This was an awesome end (hopefully not) to an awesome series. By the last page of book four I really felt like I knew the characters and it was sad to see them go.

THE BEST BOOK I HAVE READ!Posted June 06, 2009 by Tanya, Glendale, AZ
Seriously this whole series is the best I have ever read. I have read many books. Jane Austen has always held the highest for me in novels, but after reading the Twilight series this is amazing!!!!! Just be careful for young readers there is some mild adult content in it. BUT A MUST READ!!!

Great bookPosted June 08, 2009 by Pamela, Binghamton

Best one of the series!Posted July 16, 2009 by Lindsey, NJ
I thought this was the best book of the series. Without giving away any of the plot, this book definitely held my attention the most and I absolutely loved the ending.

This book does it againPosted August 18, 2009 by Erika, Wappingers Falls, NY
I love the Twilight series. I think it is overall one of the best and most addicting series ever written. There were so many mixed reviews about the fourth book I didn't know what to think about this last book, but it far exceeded my expectations. While much of the content was more mature, being an adult I loved it. I know some of the teenage readers of this series but this as their least favorite, but many of the adults loved it. I agree. This is a great book. I shocked myself at how quickly it read from beginning to end dispite its massive length. It is fabulous.

Edward and Bella finally make love but book was not greatPosted September 23, 2009 by Sheena, Maryland
The best thing about this book is that Bella and Edward FINALLY get it on....other than that...trainwreck... I wanted to like it...I willed myself to like it...but it disappointed me...Edward seemed to take a back seat as a character and had even less of a role than New Moon if that is possible. I did not have a problem with Nessie too much, I just wish more of the book would have focused on Bella and Edward's relationship right before and after she turned. All those Jacob chapters were a yawn...and I like Jacob in a way but I don't want a near whole book on his point of view.
I did like finding out about Jasper and I did like meeting so many other vamps. Perhaps if the story could have been more about the big (non) finish and the other vamps and less about Jacob's plights then it would have been more interesting.
I liked that Bella was not a crazed vamp and I think it was clever of Meyer to have that be a saving grace and it makes sense considering how powerful her mind was at self preservation even before becoming a vamp, so I totally was on board for that aspect of vampire Bella.
I read it maybe 3 times cover to cover and I still feel the exact same way. Redeeming part was Bella's self control and learning her powers and other vamp charcters introduced and the BEST part was Bella and Edward making love. I'm 27 and could have stood a few more details, but it was still quite steamy and maybe more so because it makes you use your imigination, so kudos for that. -
Fitting for this bookPosted September 29, 2009 by bobhadababyitsaboy, Grand Rapids
This book is a completely mindless teenage romance written about wooden two dimensional characters that do not behave or act like real people. Each character (aside from the overprotective Edward) that has a special power is no more than a plot device to advance the non existing conflict of the story. Predominantly the conflict takes place away from the perview of the main characters eyes so the reader doesn't get to experience it. That is to say nothing of the rampant word abuse in the book. The words "chagrin" "perfect" "beauty(ful)" and "incredulous" are used upwards of forty times each.
Besides from these "minor" literary complaints this book (and the rest of this horrid series) are nothing but a didactic summary of the Mormon faith. Like the concepts of perfection and being white to say the least.
If you're a fan of good writing...STAY AWAY
If you're a fan of good characters...STAY AWAY
If you're a fan of good supernatural storytelling...STAY AWAY
If you're a fan of word abuse...WELCOME
If you're not a fan of conflict...WELCOME
If you're a fan of pseudo-chivalrous men who are in fact abusive...WELCOME
