Bio of Richard Harding Davis

(1864 AD - 1916 AD) American journalist and novelist, short story writer and playwright, he was the son of the famous novelist Rebecca Harding Davis. He was a prolific writer. In 1890, he worked as a managing editor of Harper's Weekly. He covered wars all over the world and his vivid, dramatic vision made him the leading reporter of his day. He was a skilful storyteller and created many memorable characters. His works include: Gallegher and Other Stories (1891), Van Biber and Others (1892), Soldiers of Fortune (1897), Captain Macklin (1902), The Bar Sinister (1903), and The Dictator (1904), The Rulers of the Mediterranean (1893), Our English Cousins (1894).
