Overview

The Confederation is starting to collapse politically and economically, allowing the `possessed' to infiltrate more worlds.


Quinn Dexter is loose on Earth, destroying the giant arcologies one at a time. As Louise Kavanagh tries to track him down, she manages to acquire some strange and powerful allies whose goal doesn't quite match her own. The campaign to liberate Mortonridge from the possessed degenerates into a horrendous land battle, the kind which hasn't been seen by humankind for six hundred years; then some of the protagonists escape in a very unexpected direction. Joshua Calvert and Syrinx fly their starships on a mission to find the Sleeping God -- which an alien race believes holds the key to overthrowing the possessed.

PETER F. HAMILTON is the author of numerous short stories and novels, including The Reality Dysfunction and The Neutronium Alchemist and his story collection, A Second Chance at Eden. Mr. Hamilton lives in England and is working on a new novel.

• Engrossing, complex and "heavy" classic

  Wow. Reading Peter Hamilton's Trilogy was a marathon. Probably over 9000 pages on my E Reader in medium print but nevertheless highly enjoyable if you could keep track of the hundreds of characters. The Trilogy was well structured with some very well written and captivating action parts. Some of the ghoulish mysticism might not be for everybody but was inherently critical to the main story line. The romantic passages were tastefully done which is a rarity in Sci Fi nowadays.
  
  Overall an excellent but lengthy read. Peter Hamilton is rapidly becoming one of my favorite writers in this genre.
