Overview

A proven series with a hot new look. The #1 bestselling author returns with her most anticipated novel yet.

When a vampire serial killer sends Anita Blake a grisly souvenir from Las Vegas, she has to warn Sin City's local authorities what they're dealing with. Only it's worse than she thought. Ten officers and one executioner have been slain--paranormal style. Anita heads to Vegas, where's she's joined by three other federal marshals, including the ruthless Edward. It's a good thing he always has her back, because when she gets close to the bodies, Anita senses "tiger" too strongly to ignore it. The weretigers are very powerful in Las Vegas, which means the odds of her rubbing someone important the wrong way just got a lot higher.

  • 4 stars out of 5Return of the plot!

Don't misunderstand the headline, there is still sex in this one. I don't think it's avoidable anymore. But the plot has come back. Antia's working with the police again, this time in Las Vegas. Olaf's back, along with Edward and Bernardo. Olaf's even creeper then before. I can't say I missed him all that much, although I was glad to see Bernardo and Edward again. Them, I did miss. In this book, Anita fears becoming like Belle Morte and even gets someone (not saying who) to promise that if she does become Belle, this person (people? :)) will kill her. The end seemed to be a little too forced, like it shouldn't have ended there, but she wanted to call it the end. I felt almost cheated by that, so maybe that's why it bothered me. People who loved the first five books (as I did) will be glad to see this book and Anita working with the police again. that has been one of the things that I missed the most about the last books, the lack of police cases.
