Editorial Reviews
Nine top fantasists imagine just how amusingly amok a wedding might run in this diverting compilation of original stories on the theme of nuptials among the fey folk. Jim Butcher, the sole male contributor, serves up the book's best romp, "Something Borrowed," in which wizard detective Harry Dresden prompts a bridezilla rampage from a malevolent fairy when he tries to break up her wedding with the werewolf whose intended she is impersonating. In L.A. Banks's amusing "Spellbound," descendants of the Hatfields and McCoys wage a slapstick war of spell and counterspell, while Charlaine Harris's "Tacky" projects the mishaps that might follow a mixed marriage between a werewolf and vampire. Possibly because most of the contributors are better known as novelists, the bulk of the stories read more like comic outtakes from larger works than independently plotted stories. Fans of paranormal romance will welcome the rare chance to see Sherilynn Kenyon, Susan Krinard, Rachel Caine, Lori Handeland and other favorite authors working in short form. (Oct.)

Bio of Charlaine Harris
Charlaine Harris, who has been writing mysteries for over twenty years, is a native of Mississippi. Born and raised in the Delta, she began training for her career as soon as she could hold a pencil. Though her early works consisted largely of poems about ghosts and (later) teenage angst, she began writing plays when she attended Rhodes College in Memphis, and graduated to books a few years later. After publishing two stand-alone mysteries, Harris decided to establish a series. She began the lighthearted Aurora Teagarden books with Real Murders, which garnered an Agatha nomination. Harris's protagonist, a diminutive Georgia librarian whose life never turns out quite the way she planned, kept Harris busy for several books, but finally Harris (and Aurora) grew restless. The result of this restlessness was the much edgier Shakespeare series -- set not in England, but in rural Arkansas. The heroine of the Shakespeare books is Lily Bard, a tough and taciturn woman whose life has been permanently reshaped by a terrible crime and its consequences. In Shakespeare's Landlord, the first in the series, Lily is caught at a moment when the shell she's built around herself is just beginning to crack, and the books capture Lily's emotional re-entry into the world, while also being sound mysteries. Harris's latest venture is a series about a telepathic barmaid in southern Louisiana. The first book in the series, Dead Until Dark, won the Anthony for best paperback mystery of 2001. Each book about Sookie Stackhouse (and her dealings with vampires and werewolves and other creatures of the night) has gathered more readers to enjoy the books' unique blend of mystery, humor, romance, and the supernatural. The Sookie books are also being read in Japan, Spain, Greece, and Great Britain. In addition to her work as a writer, Harris is married and the mother to three children. A former weight lifter and karate student, she is an avid reader and cinemaphile. She is a member of the vestry of St. James Episcopal Church. Harris is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the American Crime Writers League. She is a member of the board of Sisters in Crime, and alternates with Joan Hess as president of the Arkansas Mystery Writers Alliance. (c) 2004 Charlaine Harris
Bio of Sherrilyn Kenyon
#1 New York Times bestselling author, Sherrilyn Kenyon lives a life of extraordinary danger... as does any woman with three sons, a husband, a menagerie of pets and a collection of swords that all of the above have a major fixation with. But when not running interference (or dashing off to the emergency room), she's found chained to her computer where she likes to play with all her imaginary friends. With over seventeen million copies of her books in print, in over thirty countries, she certainly has a lot of friends to play with too. Kenyon is an international phenomenon and the leading pioneer of the current paranormal craze (her first paranormal novel was published in 1994--obviously when she was just a small child). She's the author of several series including: The Dark-Hunters, The League, Brotherhood of the Sword, Lords of Avalon and the forthcoming Nevermore and Chronicles of Nick. Her Lords of Avalon novels have been adapted by Marvel and her Dark-Hunter novels are now manga published by St. Martins and packaged by the talented Dabel Brothers.
Bio of Susan Krinard
Susan Krinard never dreamed of becoming a writer. Trained as an artist with a BFA in Illustration from the California College of Arts and Crafts, she first considered the possibility when a friend read a short story she'd written -- "Fan Fiction" based on the television show "Beauty and the Beast" -- and suggested she try writing a romance novel. A longtime reader of science fiction and fantasy, Susan began reading romance -- and realized what she wanted to do was combine the two genres. Prince of Wolves, her first romance novel, was the result. Within a year, Susan had sold the manuscript to Bantam in 1993 as part of a three-book contract, and the novel went on to make several bestseller lists. Since then, Susan has written thirteen fantasy romance novels and several novellas, including Kinsman in the New York Times Bestseller Out of This World, and has begun a new fantasy series with LUNA Books, which launched with Shield of the Sky in 2004. Born and raised in California, Susan now makes her home in New Mexico, the "Land of Enchantment," with her husband, Serge, her dogs Brownie, Freya and Nahla, and her cat, Jefferson. In addition to writing, Susan's interests include music -- especially classical, oldies and new age -- old movies, nature, baking and making jewelry for artisan beads.
