Overview
In a family torn apart by poverty and violence, Hekat is no more than an unwanted mouth to feed, worth only a few coins from a passing slave trader.
But Hekat was not born to be a slave. For her, a different path has been chosen.
It is a path that will take her from stinking back alleys to the house of her God, from blood-drenched battlefields to the glittering palaces of Mijak.
This is the story of Hekat, precious and beautiful.

I kept reading and reading hoping there was some redeeming value in this book and honestly it was the biggest waste off time i have ever spent on a book, don't waste your time.

Great FantasyPosted March 24, 2009 by Lara, Winnipeg
I thought that this was an excellent book, although maybe a little long.

Ending not in keeping with the rest of the bookPosted March 28, 2009 by Anne, Chattanooga
Totally lost my interest in the ending of the book. Everything had been well written and explained until then. The ending was haphazard and dislocated.

Excellent StartPosted April 14, 2009 by Jody, Batavia,Il
This book was an excellent start to the Godspeaker Trilogy. I found myself getting more and more involved with the story. Read Books 2 and 3!!!

Loser of a bookPosted April 16, 2009 by Arielle, Houston
Man, was I disappointed in this book. All that stilted language just got on my last nerve. I finally couldn't stand it anymore. I thought if I had to read another sentence like "You are in the eye of the god, and the god sees you in it's eye." I would scream. Save your time and your money and get something worth reading - this book is a waste of both.

Could not finish.Posted May 04, 2009 by Mark Wallace, Columbia MD
When the general decides to consummate his marriage in front of his troops, I deleted the book in disgust.
Might be to some folks taste, but not to mine. The cover quotes made me believe that I was reading a book about a confident woman in an interesting world. That is not this book. This is more in the lines of one of those romance novels where you know the end from 50 pages in and you're just riding along for the scenery on the trip.
I found the characters one dimensional, and the world almost "four color" in simplicity. But if I hadn't been mislead by the marketing text, I wouldn't be so disappointed. -
Worst book I have ever read.Posted July 09, 2009 by Keith Lott, Philadephia
This is absolutely the worst book I have ever read. In fact it is the first book in my entire life I did not finish because it was that bad.
