Witch & Wizard

Overview

The world is changing: the government has seized control of every aspect of society, and now, kids are disappearing. For 15-year-old Wisty and her older brother Whit, life turns upside down when they are torn from their parents one night and slammed into a secret prison for no reason they can comprehend. The New Order, as it is known, is clearly trying to suppress Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Being a Normal Teenager. But while trapped in this totalitarian nightmare, Wisty and Whit discover they have incredible powers they'd never dreamed of.

Author Information

James Patterson

In January, 2010, The New York Times Magazine featured James Patterson on its cover and hailed him as having "transformed book publishing." Time magazine named him "The Man Who Can't Miss," and he is a two-time Children's Choice Book Award "Author of the Year" nominee, a designation decided on by more than 15,000 children and teen readers.

In the past three years, James Patterson has sold more books than any other author (according to Bookscan), and in total, James's books have sold an estimated 205 million copies worldwide. Since 2006, one out of every seventeen hardcover fiction books sold was a Patterson title. He is the first author to have #1 new titles simultaneously on The New York Times adult and children's bestsellers lists and is the only author to have five new hardcover novels debut at #1 on the list in one year -- a record-breaking feat he's accomplished every year since 2005. To date, James Patterson has had nineteen consecutive #1 New York Times bestselling novels, and holds the New York Times record for most Hardcover Fiction bestselling titles by a single author (63 total), which is also a Guinness World Record.

I thought this was a good book but that is just me. What really it depends on is what kind of books you like to read. This is a good book for you if you like action filled stories. You will definitely like this book if you like Maximum Ride and other James Patterson books. Over all I think it is a good book....the only down side is that you will be sad when it is over.

The book skipped around too much and had random aspects that confused me. The beginning was okay but then it just went downhill. I am sorry, I like your books Patterson but this was not worth it.

  • 6.5 stars out of 5Amazing

I don't care what anyone above or below thinks of this book becuase I thought it was simply amazing. I am a teen 17 to be exact and I loved every line of this book. I love supernatural books and fiction so this went right along with my usual style and the fact that the world was a dystopia. It made me feel happy to pay attention in english becuase thats what we're working on. Witch and Wizard is a DYSTOPIA for all those who don't get it. It's a great book using dystopian characteristics and elements like the totalitarianism and the constant surveillance and the illusion of a perfect world not to mention the figure head. I recommend this book no matter what people say. I can't wait for the next one! :)
  • 7.1 star out of 5Woefully lacking

Sorry- I'm a huge James Patterson fan and an even bigger fan of supernatural and occult. I've read the Harry Potter series (so Icould relate to the grandkids) and loved them. I've read many books geared towards the younger generation and loved them.

This book is a huge disappointment-it is certainly not up to Pattersons standards and I'm not sure what he was trying to achieve in writing this novel. It is completely unoriginal, certainly not a story I enjoyed in the least, and even if I was a child again I think I would have a hard time relating to the characters in the book.
It has obviously been a while since Patterson was a child, as the characters are so very unbelievable.
I read the book completely (although it wasn't easy!) to see if I could find some redeeming qualities. There were none.
    Waste of time and money.
  • 8.2 stars out of 5Ok

This book is ok. It is of course more for the teenagers and younger children than for adults. It may not be like the other James Patterson books, but overall for the level of reader and age of reader that this is good a book.

I just got started reading James Patterson's books a few months ago with the Maxride series and i've been hooked ever since. This book was no exception. It was a page turner and I couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the next one.
