J.A. Konrath is a real breath of fresh air -- a really decent writer publishing independently through Smashwords. While most of the self-published authors out there bear readily the prejudice that vanity press is for the incapable, Konrath regularly proves that some independent publishers are really quite talented.

Case in point: "Origin" is the third book I've read by Konrath. I started with "Afraid" and immediately sought out more of his work. By the time I got through "Origin" (which was quite quick, as I only set the book down long enough to refill my drink) I was impressed enough that I decided to actually write a review. Konrath's novels are consistently entertaining and well-written, with just the right edge to trigger that visceral squeamishness yet staying on the right side of gratuitous.

My only complaint is that I seem to have read through his entire horror repertoire to date, so I'm eagerly hoping for more to come.

I loved this book and was pleasantly surprised that I did. The author lists it as his attempt at sci-fi and not being a huge fan of that genre, I still decided to read it because I've enjoyed his other books. I was not disappointed and so glad that I gave it a chance! As with all the other books, I was not able to put it down and absolutely love the writing style. I have to say, this is my new favorite author and I wish there more books to read but will patiently wait for the next one to come out. This would make a great movie and one that I would definitely watch!

And Jack does it again..... This was another page turner and non-stop action. Horror movie fans, read it you will love it!!!!
