Christine Feehan

I live in the beautiful mountains of Lake County, California. I have always loved hiking, camping, rafting and being outdoors. I've also been involved in the martial arts for years--I hold a third degree black belt, instruct in a Korean karate system, and have taught self-defense. I am happily married to a romantic man who often inspires me with his thoughtfulness. We have a yours, mine, and ours family, claiming eleven children as our own. I have always written books, forcing my ten sisters to read every word, and now my daughters read and help me edit my manuscripts. It is fun to take all the research I have done on wild animals, raptors, vampires, weather, and volcanoes and put it together with romance.

    I really enjoy all Christine Feehan's novels that I read. I have not once picked up a book of hers and not finished it. I like to read the books in order, though you don't have too, they will make a little more sense to the reader. I like the fact that she knows that women and men can be a half a part, but when together they form a whole soul. This book, as long with the others that she writes is about strong women, that eventually fall in love and they have a man that treats them as equals. If you like this novel then you should read the rest of the books in this series, as well as the other series that Christine Feehan has out. There is one about 7 sisters (The Drake Series) that I also enjoy reading very much. I hope that you enjoy this book as I know that I did.

    This is a great story. I suppose it would mean more to me if I knew who the people were before I read it. But coming from someone who hasn't read one of the books in this series it is still amazing. I ended with a good idea in who the characters are and, while not going into drastic detail, have some idea of what they went through to get where they are. I'm sure for those who read this series avidly this is a great refresher and just like a family reunion. Some interesting things happen here. Friends and family gather together and two of them actually find their soul mates which is usually good news but doesn't seem to be in this case or perhaps just not yet. The relationships are so complicated but not too difficult to figure out. The bad guy is hurt and so are the good guys.

Excerpt from Dark Celebration (The Dark Series - Book 17) by Christine Feehan

Stars glittered across the night sky and the moon spilled light, illuminating the trees below and turning leaves a glistening silver. A female owl skimmed the canopy, dipped lower to speed through the labyrinth of trees before rising again just in time to avoid a thick branch. A second, larger owl chased her in a wide circle above the forest surrounding a clearing where a large two-story stone house sat. The female plummeted toward the steep roof, talons extended toward the chimney, pulled up at the last heart-stopping second to race away from the male, wings flapping noiselessly, the wind riffing iridescent feathers.

Raven! Mikhail Dubrinsky warned his lifemate sharply. That was far too close.

It was exhilarating.

Raven, you are going to get tired. There was a soft warning growl in Mikhail's voice, as if a wolf lurked inside the body of the owl.

Her laughter bubbled up, soft and warm in his mind as they telepathically communicated. I'm not a newbie anymore, Mikhail, and after all these years, I think I can handle flying. I love it. It's my favorite thing to do. Are you ever going to get over being overprotective?

I do not think it is overprotective to watch over the woman of my heart and soul. You always overdo it when you fly. And you risk much more than you should.

That may have been true, but Raven wasn't going to admit it. Once in the body of a bird, she wanted to stay that way for long periods of time. I feel so free.
