Bio of Carol Fenner

Carol Fenner was born on September 30, 1929, in Almond, New York. Author of the 1996 Newbery Honor book, Yolanda's Genius, Ms. Fenner began writing poems before she even knew how to write ' her mother wrote her poems down for her. As a young teen, she and her friends put on plays in her family's basement. Her book, The Skates of Uncle Richard, was a Coretta Scott King honor book in 1979. She died in Battle Creek, Michigan, in 2002.
