The Way of Shadows
Overview
For Durzo Blint, assassination is an art-and he is the city's most accomplished artist.
For Azoth, survival is precarious. Something you never take for granted. As a guild rat, he's grown up in the slums, and learned to judge people quickly - and to take risks. Risks like apprenticing himself to Durzo Blint.
But to be accepted, Azoth must turn his back on his old life and embrace a new identity and name. As Kylar Stern, he must learn to navigate the assassins' world of dangerous politics and strange magics - and cultivate a flair for death.

Read this whole series, it is great start to finish. Totally entertaining. The only negative thing I would say is that there is not another one. -

Great TrilogyPosted August 11, 2010 by Fan, Calgary
Loved all three of these books - when I was done, I went back and read them again. Yes, there was language, and a lot of the uglier side of life - from early on, this book is about killers.... One reviewer did not like that there was so much "borrowed" from human history, but I thought the beauty of it was that there was so much of human history in this world the author created. There is also a great deal of truth in this book, about life, courage, human nature, and even God, though the latter perhaps more subtly. The last trilogy I enjoyed this much was the Lord of the Rings - this has few similarities to that trilogy except for the life-truths of it. It was a compelling read. I had to buy the second and third books as soon as they were available - I had to find out the resolution to the story! -
