Tell a Friend

Overview

Logan Gyre is king of Cenaria, a country under siege, with a threadbare army and little hope. He has one chance - a desperate gamble, but one that could destroy his kingdom.

In the north, the new Godking has a plan. If it comes to fruition, no one will have the power to stop him.

Kylar Stern has no choice. To save his friends-and perhaps his enemies-he must accomplish the impossible: assassinate a goddess.

Beyond the Shadows is the action-packed conclusion to the Night Angel Trilogy.

  • 2 stars out of 5Much weaker than the first two

I could barely put down the first two novels and I am struggling to finish this one. The narration seems completely disjointed as it jumps between too many characters (I think its 8 but it could be more). Characters behave uncharacteristically stupid. Vital information that must be shared is kept secret for no good reason. Something important gets stolen from a person that should be nearly impossible to steal from with no explanation of how it was done.

Having read the first two books, you pretty much have to read this one just to see where the story goes. But the quality of this book is far below the two that precede it..

  • 4 stars out of 5Very good conclusion.

I thought this book held a great continuing story from the previous books and ended it in a really well done conclusion. All of the mysteries and questions are answered pretty well and fall into place like pieces in a puzzle. The characters do change quite a bit, but with good reason from everything they've been through. I only had 2 gripes with this book, one being at one point i think there were up to 8 different people you were following, and it'd take me about half a minute to even remember what they were doing and their place in the story before i could begin the chapter. The next is something that's been constant through the series, is sometimes the authors writing style is kinda of blunt and rough(right words?) and doesn't seem to mesh well with the rest of the writing. If you've read the others, you probably know what i mean. Besides that, a pretty good read (only if you have read the others first of course).

  • 5 stars out of 5~GREAT CONCLUSION TO A GREAT TRILOGY~

Thoroughly enjoyed this book as well as the other two especially since I've never read "fantasy" before. Whole new experience and would love to see a continuation of this story!!!

  • 4 stars out of 5An ending worth reading...

If you've read the previous 2 books in the Night Angel series, you will be satisfied with the conclusion in this story. The characters are complex and well-rounded. I enjoyed it very much. As with the other books in this series, just a warning about the language which tended to be harder than it needed to be and often felt out of place.
