There was some interesting history of inventions, but the tone of the book was what I should have expected with a name like "ManVentions". Men like to drink, hit people and spit! A bit too lowbrow for me. -

I almost never review books that I'm still reading, at least not if I intend to finish them. But my dislike for this book is so strong that I just can't wait to vent in a public forum.
First, the pluses. I got this book for free. It's relatively short. If you ever find yourself stuck in an airport for eight hours (like I was when I started it) and are looking for something to read that requires absolutely no concentration whatsoever, well, this book can definitely be read in small chunks.
If I had to categorize this volume, I'd call it a book of trivia. The problem is, all of the trivia contained within it could probably be condensed down to a 10-page pamphlet. The other 100+ pages are nothing but puerile filler. I honestly believe that the writing is so juvenile and so over-the-top with testosterone that even a magazine like FHM would reject it. It's that bad. -

I think the only reason I actually finished this book was that it was short and my internet connection was down. Otherwise I would have happily abandoned it, and probably would have been happier if I had.
Admittedly, I wasn't the target audience for this book, but I found that it basically focused on male stereotypes (apparently men quite like barely clad women, I never would have guessed), repeating the same stereotypes over and over. It was also REALLY badly formatted, some sentences just not making sense because text had migrated there from another bit of the paragraph. -

Funny book that graced the back of my toilet tank for a week.....I read slow. I learned a few things. The book is an easy read and well worth the time
