Author Information

Angela Knight

Angela Knight is the USA Today bestselling author of books for Berkley, Red Sage, Changeling Press, Loose Id and Ellora's Cave.

Her first book was written in pencil and illustrated in crayon; she was nine years old at the time. A few years later, she read The Wolf and the Dove and fell in love with romance.

Besides her fiction work, Angela's publishing career includes a stint as a comic book writer and ten years as a newspaper reporter. Several of her stories won South Carolina Press Association awards under her real name.

In 1996, she discovered the small press publisher Red Sage, and realized her dream of romance publication in the company's Secrets 2 anthology. She went on to publish several more novellas in Secrets before editor Cindy Hwang discovered her work there and asked her if she'd be interested in writing for Berkley. Not being an idiot, Angela said yes.

Whatever success she has enjoyed, she attributes to the marvelous editors she's had over the years. David Anthony Kraft and Dwight Zimmerman at Comics Interview taught her the nuts and bolts of fiction writing. Alexandria Kendall of Red Sage discovered her talent for romance writing and encouraged her to believe in herself. And she will be forever grateful to Berkley editor Cindy Hwang, who has been unfailingly supportive.

Angela lives in South Carolina with her husband, Michael, a polygraph examiner and hostage negotiator for the county's Sheriff's Office. The couple have a grown son, Anthony.

Nalini Singh

Nalini has wanted to be a writer for as long as she can remember. As a child, when she wasn't daydreaming, she was scribbling her ideas down in her notebook. Somewhere along the way, she figured out that a writer was as close to a professional daydreamer as it was possible to get. Writing then became her main career choice. However, a somewhat unexpected practical streak had her attending university and graduating with degrees in English literature and law (as spots for professional dreamers are scarce).

Nalini worked in a law firm for almost two years before she sold her first book. She took it as a sign that "The Call" came the day before her 25th birthday -- it was the universe's way of telling her that the time was right for her to change careers from law to writing (though some of her friends suggested that she might be indulging in a quarter-life crisis). However, she is deliriously happy with her decision to follow her lifelong dream. Despite the fact that the 21st century is supposed to be hip and sophisticated and way too cool for love, Nalini believes in love and hope and forever, because without those things, this world would be a cold place. She's delighted to be writing books that celebrate romance.

In the next few years, she intends to shamelessly indulge her desire to write and to travel the world, including possibly taking up residence in another country for a short time. According to her, it's all grist for the writer's mill.

You can email her at nalini@nalinisingh.com. She also pops up in the eHarlequin.com Community on occasion. She'd love to hear from her readers.

Virginia Kantra

Bestselling author Virginia Kantra credits her love for strong heroes and courageous heroines to a childhood spent devouring fairy tales, her fondness for kickass women to her daughter, and her knowledge of guys to her husband and teenage sons.

Virginia is the author of over a dozen books for Silhouette Intimate Moments, including her popular "Trouble in Eden" series. Her first single title romantic suspense, Close-Up, will be released by Berkley in July 2005.

A five-time Romance Writers of America RITA Award finalist, Virginia is the winner of numerous writing awards, including the Golden Heart, Holt Medallion, Maggie Award of Excellence and two National Readers' Choice Awards.

Meljean Brook

Meljean was raised in the middle of the woods, and hid under her blankets at night with fairy tales, comic books, and romances. She left the forest and went on a misguided tour through the world of accounting, banking, and a (very) brief teaching career before focusing on her first loves, reading and writing--and she realized that monsters, superheroes, and happily-ever-afters are easily found between the covers, as well as under them, so she set out to make her own. Meljean lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and daughter.
